With the recent shocking murders of Baringo MCA Thomas Minito and three children belonging to Eldoret MCA James Ratemo, several other mysterious murder cases in Kenya still remain unresolved.
Many speculations have been raised surrounding the deaths but, however, no final conclusions have been made as to how or why the victims lost their lives.
Kenyans.co.ke has compiled a list of deaths that shocked the country and some, remain unresolved to date.
Samuel Wanjiru
In May 2011 the country woke up to the news that Olympic Marathon Champion Samuel Wanjiru was no more.
The 24-year-old was reported to have fallen from the balcony of his luxurious house in Muthaiga Estate in Nyahururu.
On the fateful night, Wanjiru's wife Triza Njeri is said to have found her husband with another woman at their home.
In a moment of rage, she locked the two in the bedroom and left. The deceased later attempted to break down the door but failed and attempted to climb down the balcony where he allegedly lost grip and plunged to his death.
Wanjiru's case was however suspected to be a homicide as the injuries on the back of the head were thought to have been inflicted by a blunt object. The case is in court to date.

Mercy Keino
The disfigured body of a University of Nairobi student Mercy Keino was in June 2011 found along Waiyaki Way having been run over by several vehicles.
Ms Keino's head had been crushed and she had multiple fractures and bruises. She was reported to have attended an evening party at the Wasini Luxury Apartments hosted by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
The 25-year-old allegedly got drunk and disorderly and was kicked out by the host at around 2 pm. What happened next remains a mystery to date.
Mr Kabogo was implicated in her death but was cleared of the charges in 2016.
Careen Chepchumba
In February 2012, Careen Chepchumba who was dating popular Journalist, Louis Otieno was found dead in her apartment.
Her brother Emmanuel who had gone looking for her after she failed to turn up for work found her lifeless body neatly tucked between the bed sheets.
Postmortem reports revealed that Chepchumba had died as a result of strangulation and had engaged in a sexual act with her killer before or immediately after her death.
On the crime scene, a mysterious handwritten note addressed to her boyfriend Mr Otieno was found. It read "I wish they would let me do my way. Even if we were not together, you are still in my heart. You will still remain so dear to me Louis."
Mr Otieno who was implicated in the murder following claims that he had been mistreating Chepchumba was cleared of the charges. However, her death is yet to be resolved.

Jacob Juma
In May 2016, popular Nairobi businessman Jacob Juma was shot dead by unknown gunmen along Ngong Road near the Southern bypass.
Mr Juma was accosted by the gunmen as he drove from Westlands to his Karen home.
The vocal businessman is said to have been in the company of a young woman who he had allegedly dropped at the city centre before he met his death.
Juma's death was speculated to have been a political assassination in connection with the Eurobond saga in which billions of shillings are claimed to have been lost.

Kibet Cheretei and Pepee Kitambaa
Two months ago, Loyamorok Ward Representative Kibet Cheretei and Tiaty Parliamentary aspirant Pepee Kitambaa were shot dead by unknown gunmen at a club in Baringo County.
The MCA's vehicle was set ablaze while the aspirant's, was partly damaged.
Baringo Police Boss Peter Ndung'u stated that reasons for their shooting were unknown.
Leaders claimed that the killings were political with Tiaty Member of Parliament Asman Kamama being linked to the incident.
He, however, denied the allegations and police are still investigating the mysterious deaths.

Willie Kimani, Josphat Mwenda and Joseph Muiruri
In July 2016, human rights lawyer Willie Kimani was murdered and his body thrown in a river in Ol-Donyo Sabuk, Machakos County.
The lawyer's body was recovered alongside that of his client Josphat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.
The three went missing while returning from Mavoko Law Courts to hear a case Mr Mwendwa had filed against a police officer.
Postmortem results disclosed that the three had been severely tortured, beaten and strangled before being thrown into the river.
Four police officers were arrested in connection with the murders and remain in custody as the case is still ongoing.
