NASA Announces Its Strategy to Avoid Vote Rigging During Rally in Isiolo

The National Super Alliance (NASA) on Wednesday announced a new strategy they would use in the August elections to safeguard their votes against being 'stolen'.

While addressing a rally in Isiolo, the NASA team noted that the strategy involved setting up a five-member committee for each polling station.

Led by flag bearer Raila Odinga, the Opposition explained that the five-member committee would be equipped with still and video cameras to shoot the presidential results and relay them to the coalition’s headquarters.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader mentioned that committees in each polling station would coordinate the voting process and avert any rigging schemes by being in charge of NASA’s register to make sure the sick in hospital beds are ferried to polling stations.

"It will consist of a chairman, secretary, treasurer, and women and youth representatives. By nine in the morning, the committee will check the names of those who have not voted, go to the villages and even hospitals and bring those who have not voted to cast their vote. They will then be taken back to hospital,” Raila stated.

NASA also reiterated their stand on a parallel tallying centre noting that they would conduct a parallel vote count at all polling stations to thwart any rigging schemes by Jubilee.

They would also simultaneously count the votes alongside the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) presiding officers in every polling station to “make sure every vote is accounted for”.

“When they count, we will also count ours, they drop we also drop. If we don’t agree we tell them no until all the votes cast are accounted for,” Raila highlighted.

Deputy NASA flag bearer Kalonzo Musyoka on his part  faulted IEBC for appealing against the ruling of the High Court that upheld the counting of presidential votes at polling centres as final, claiming the electoral body was being used by Jubilee Party.

“IEBC is not honest and Jubilee relies on stealing votes in order to claim victory. That is why they are against counting of votes at polling stations,” he noted.

The Isiolo rally is part of NASA's 10-day marathon campaign program that began on Sunday.
