Police Ordered to Arrest ODM Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya

The Senate's Public Accounts and Investment Committee (PAIC) has issued a warrant of arrest against Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy leader Wycliffe Oparanya.

The Kakamega governor failed to show up before the commitee to answer audit querries that were raised by the auditor general, sparking the current standoff.

The Public Accounts and Investment Committee also asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to bar him from contesting in the coming elections.

Oparanya had moved to court seeking the courts to rule that he is not compelled to attend the senate committee's meetings.

The court will rule on the matter on June 21.

Oparanya has been facing allegations of mispropriation of public funds with Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale demanding that he account for all funds received.

The powerful senate commitee has powers to summon and issue warrants of arrest.
