Kirinyaga County Gubernatorial Aspirant Anne Waiguru on Wednesday launched a fierce attack on the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga stating that he was the one behind his woes.
The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary while in an interview at Citizen's JKL Live alleged that Raila was embarrassed and humiliated when she cleaned up Kibra in a short period of time yet he had not done so in the many years he was a Member of Parliament for the area.
"I think I embarrassed him too much..we cleaned the area, build new toilets and this attracted attention," Waiguru stated.
Ms Waiguru further revealed that Raila was not a development oriented leader and after seeing her success, he feared that the people of Kibra would rebel against him hence the need to challenge the project by branding her as corrupt.
"NYS had an agenda to transform the youth and empower them. Raila was embarrassed that we got into Kibra and did what he was not able to do in 25 years and people started asking what is this that this man has been doing," she stated.
The former CS accused Raila of defaming her by connecting her to the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal and explained that she had sued Raila.
"I have been a scapegoat from the beginning and I, therefore, sued Raila for defamation and the matter is in court. The only thing that will stop him from defending himself in court is presidency and he will not be President," Waiguru noted.
She stated that the opposition was capitalizing on the NYS scandal as a campaign issue because they had no other thing to hang on to.
Waiguru is seeking to be the next Kirinyaga County Governor and will battle it out with NARC-Kenya party leader Martha Karua in the August elections.
