An influential Member of Parliament (MP) who defected from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to Jubilee has revealed details of Jubilee's lineup for 2022.
Sirisia MP John Waluke revealed that Luhya leaders in Jubilee have negotiated to have Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa as William Ruto's running mate in 2022.
He noted that having Wamalwa as Ruto's running mate was the easiest and best way for the community to ascend to power.
The legislator also blasted the National Super Alliance (NASA) for offering non-existent positions to lure voters.
“That is the easiest way the Luhya community can ascend to power and not through the opposition NASA, which is offering the community nonexistent positions,” he said.
He urged the Luhya community not to be duped into supporting NASA but to unite behind Jubilee and eventually see one of their own rise to the position of Deputy President.
He stated that the 2017 election was done and dusted and President Uhuru Kenyatta has already won and the attention was now on the 2022 race.
Wamalwa had expressed interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial race but dropped out of the race.
It will be interesting to watch how the 2022 race shapes up with Ruto already facing resistance from a section of Central Kenya leaders.
In his own political home of Rift Valley, the DP's influence is facing competition from Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi who are keen on cutting his influence and growing their political careers.
