You always see them on busy roads during rush hour controlling traffic and nabbing traffic law offenders but they also have lives outside of their profession.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a traffic police officer only identified as Pastor Afande was seen preaching to motorists in Zimmerman area Nairobi as he was going about his daily routine.
Dressed in his full uniform and a reflective jacket, the officer vigorously preached, much to the surprise of motorists and pedestrians.
He was in the company of other officers and from the video, it looks like an outreach ministry aimed at transforming the lives of people along the roads.
The officer was cheered on by onlookers as he broke down the scripture, emphasising the need for repentance among all ranks of the police.
"Usiendelee kukaa kwa dhambi...ata bunduki ya G3 haiwezi nisaidia kuingia mbinguni...," ( Do not continue with your sinful ways...even a G3 gun cannot help me to enter the kingdom of heaven) he said.
Traffic police have for a long time been portrayed in bad light, as they have been captured on camera soliciting bribes from motorists, leading to their arrests by anti-corruption officials but perhaps this might change the perception of many.
