Hours after the Mumias Sugar Company Manager was shot dead, three Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Western Region have alleged that he was killed for refusing because he refused to sign for illegally imported sugar to be branded as Mumias shipment.
The MPs also claimed that Mr Leonard Joseph Lubya was murdered over his refusal to sign for the release of money to finance a coalition's campaign.
Mr Lubya was shot in the head by three gunmen at his Matungulu home on Sunday.
His wife sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The gunmen made away with household goods and a Toyota Harrier vehicle belonging to the deceased.
The shooting of the manager follows a major crisis where the Mumias Company was shut down indefinitely on April 11, 2017.
The Miller had earlier received Sh239 Million from the government, as part of a bailout strategy.
Mumias Sugar Company is a publicly-traded company owned 20 percent by the State.
