Police in Kwale Recover 33 Digital Tablets Stolen from Mwena Primary School Last Month

Police in Kwale have recovered 33 digital tablets that had been stolen from Mwena Primary School.

Confirming the recovery, Lunga Lunga OCPD Charles Ouma stated that the recovered batch was part of the 95 tablets and laptops stolen from the school last month.

Ouma revealed that they had arrested 4 suspects who had attempted to deface the government-branded tablets.

He noted that the features proved difficult for the suspects to remove in a bid to dispose or sell the tablets and laptops.

“The tablets have government logos and flags, so it was difficult for them to sell after their attempt to deface them failed,” said Ouma.

The police boss added that the tablets and other accessories had been distributed in different areas and were found in Mwena, Kibarani and Likoni in Kwale and Mombasa Counties.

Ouma said that the suspects were aiding police with investigations.

The tablets were part of a mega landmark project rolled out by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government last November.

The rollout, according to the Ministry of Education, was in a bid to advance technological literacy and education countrywide.
