Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Thursday appealed to his rival in the Nairobi Gubernatorial contest Peter Kenneth to step down stating that he would accommodate him in his government after winning the elections.
Speaking at a Team Nairobi strategy meeting held at the Stedmark Gardens, the Senator apologised to Kenneth over their past confrontations and stated that he (Kenneth) should forget the past and work with him.
"I want to say sorry to PK because he may be bitter with me because of the comments I made on Citizen TV.
"But he also got it wrong by saying I am a hooligan. I want to tell him to calm down. We will even plead with the president to give him an executive job," Sonko stated.
Sonko urged all Jubilee nomination losers including Kenneth who had shifted to run as independents to quit terming them as"spoilers and enemies' out to deny the party convincing victory.
He further stated that they would engage all independents in the coming week to convince them to withdraw from the race and cautioned that candidates who refuse to step down would face political war ahead of August elections.
"We will compensate those who will agree to step down. We will even accommodate them in our government because we are sure we are going to win.
"Those who will not toe the line will be our enemies. We will declare total war against them. We shall camp in their areas and tell the people why they should not be elected," Sonko stated.
The Senator highlighted that Jubilee's main agenda is to win most seats in the city and he will strive to ensure no one blocks that mission.
"Jubilee Party is headed for a clean sweep in the city and will not allow spoilers to stand on its way," he explained.
The flamboyant legislator warned Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua to restrict his Maendeleo Chap Chap party activities to his county stating that he would not allow him to interfere with Nairobi politics.
Nairobi Woman Representative Rachel Shebesh on her part stated that all independents and those running for various seats under other parties are enemies of Jubilee.
"If you are an independent, then you are an enemy. There are no two ways about it...we will fight you," she stated.
Team Nairobi is composed of Sonko, Shebesh and Nominated Member of Parliament Johnson Sakaja who are seeking to be the next Nairobi governor, Woman Rep, and Senator respectively.
