Kitui Gubernatorial Aspirant David Musila Refutes Claims He Endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta

Kitui Gubernatorial aspirant David Musila on Monday made a U-turn days after reportedly endorsing the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Senator Musila stated that he did not endorse President Kenyatta nor anyone else.

Musila said that he was an Independent candidate having resigned from Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party and added that there was nothing wrong with the statement he made on the issue.

“I did not endorse Uhuru, I do not see anything wrong with the statements I made yesterday, as of now I am an independent candidate, I am not supporting anyone within Jubilee or the National Super Alliance.

When pressed on whether his remarks were over his acrimonious fallout with Musyoka, Musila stated that he had no issue with the party leader.

“As far as am concerned, I made it clear to my people that the issue of gubernatorial race in Kitui. I do not have any issue with Kalonzo, I have no quarrel with him and we have agreed to move forward,” noted Musila.

He, however, lamented that things were not in order in Wiper and needed to be addressed before the August 8 polls.

“Well, things are not in order in wiper, I regret this being a founding member of Wiper, you saw what happened in Makueni and Machakos, this is regrettable,” added the governor hopeful.

Musila and Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze had over the weekend praised President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee administration for a job well done in its endeavours to empower special groups and endorsed his re-election.

“I support Nyenze. Vote for me as an independent candidate, elect President Kenyatta without minding his Jubilee party,” Musila was quoted to be saying.
