2 Killed in Another Eastleigh Mall Attack

Two Security men at a mall in Eastleigh, Nairobi, were on Thursday morning hacked to death as heavy rains pounded many parts of the City.

Armed robbers stormed Bangkok Mall at 1am where they killed the two guards who attempted to intercept them, before they broke into several shops.

Confirming the incident Starehe OCPD Kiberenge Seroney, noted that the gangsters who have since gone missing, stole goods and an unknown amount of money from five stores in the mall.

The bodies of the guards were discovered by their colleagues who were supposed to relieve them.

This is the latest in a series of attacks on shopping centres in the area, which is best known for its booming business sector.

Last week, a CID officer was among eight suspects who were arrested and held at the Pangani police station over a similar break in, at a mall in Eastleigh where property was stolen.

In August, six suspects, among them two GSU officers and a former police officer were arrested after they were linked to a robbery at United Textile Mall in Eastleigh where Sh1.8 million and $17,000 had been stolen, but was later recovered.

In September, four armed robbers broke into Sunrise Mall at around 3am trigerring the alarm. Police who arrived at the scene blockaded the mall sealing all exits to inhibit the robbers' escape.
