2 Men Killed in ODM Elections

Two men were Sunday night killed during the ongoing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) grassroot elections in Migori County.

One man was killed in Awendo while the other was hacked to death in Rongo area.

Judith Pareno,ODM's National Election Board (NEB) official, however, said there has been no cases of violence in the elections.

The two were reportedly killed after clashes arose between conflicting parties during the elections.

County Police Commander David Kirui reported that the Rongo victim died while undergoing treatment at Kisii County Referral Hospital.

The grassroot elections are as a result of the party's restructuring operations which are intended to conform with the devolved system.

The elections were set to take place from 30th September to 1st October, 2015 in Siaya County.

ODM elections have in the past been stained with violence and claims of favouritism.

The party's national elections, last year, turned out chaotic after unknown men botched the process when they invaded the arena at Kasarani Stadium where the elections were being carried out.
