NASA leader Raila Odinga Warned Not to Visit Bondo with Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga

National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga has been warned against conducting his campaigns in Bondo, which is his home turf, in the company of Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga.

This warning was issued by a section of Bondo sub-county residents led by Bondo Transport Association chairman Fredrick Agolla.

The influential Association comprises boda-boda, pickups and heavy commercial vehicles operators and is believed to be critical in mobilising crowds for or against political candidates.

The leaders also stated that they had received threats from undisclosed sources after they failed to support the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) gubernatorial candidate.

He was supported by other leaders of the association including Oliver Akach (Assistant Chairman), Dennis Owiti (Secretary) and Samuel Lenya, who dismissed allegations that they were responsible for jeering Odinga each time he campaigned for the incumbent in the area.

The group, however, reaffirmed that they were behind the NASA leader and made it known that he was free to campaign in the area provided he does so without the company of the Siaya Governor.

Less than a week ago, the NASA candidate was heckled when he attempted to campaign for the six-piece voting system in the area.

Bondo is the home turf of Rarieda legislator Nicholas Gumbo, who contested for the ODM ticket for Siaya governorship but lost to the incumbent, in an election he claimed was flawed.

Gumbo will be contesting in the August General Election as an independent candidate.

Attempts by ODM party leaders to rally Nyanza voters behind ODM candidates have met resistance following the nomination exercise that was described by many as a sham.
