PAC Chairman Nicholas Gumbo to Sue Mutahi Ngunyi over Bribery Remarks

The Chairman of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Nicholas Gumbo, has declared that he will sue Political Analyst Mutahi Ngunyi following an explosive tweet he made terming PAC as a "fellowship of thugs".

Mr Gumbo emphasised that he would sue Mr Ngunyi for defaming him and linking the powerful committee to bribery claims.

"I am going to sue him," vowed Gumbo

Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, who is also a member of the committee, accused the political analyst of making malicious claims against PAC.

"If Ngunyi was honest on this grave matter, he would have made a report to detectives for investigation and action on such an individual or the entire PAC as he claimed," Bosire lamented.

Last week, Ngunyi shockingly claimed that PAC demanded a Sh7.5 Million bribe from him during a probe on his connection to the infamous Sh1.8 Billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

"PAC is a 'FELLOWSHIP of THUGS'. A DEMAND of 7.5M was made from me. I refused. Now they want me CHARGED with Perjury  #PACApologiseToKenyans," Ngunyi wrote on his Twitter timeline.

Before the tweet, PAC had tabled a report accusing Ngunyi's company - The Consulting House - of conspiring with NYS officers to defraud the public of Sh90 Million by reproducing an existing document with minor adjustments.

“The Consulting House chief executive officer Mutahi Ngunyi is culpable for plagiarism, perjury and willful withholding information from the committee.

"He is directly liable for failure to make full disclosure that he had been paid in excess of Sh100 million for other unspecified services from NYS,” the report stated.
