14 Politicians Summoned by IEBC Ahead of Elections

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission on Monday summoned 14 candidates who are vying for various seats in the August polls over various electoral offences.

The 14 among them Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka of the Jubilee Party are alleged to have breached the electoral code of conduct during their campaigns.

They will appear before the IEBC Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee on Wednesday together with various complainants.

Others who were summoned are Steve Mbogo (ODM), Wycliffe Wangamati (Ford Kenya), Jessica Mbalu (Wiper), Phillip Kaloki (Jubilee) among others.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati stated that those found guilty of electoral misconduct would face stern action.

Chebukati warned all aspirants taking part in the August 8 polls that the IEBC committee would continue to monitor the conduct of campaigns across the country.
