2017 Presidential Ballot Papers Have Already Been Printed - Raila Declares

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday made shocking remarks stating that the 2017 presidential ballot papers had already been printed.

While addressing the media, the former Premier vowed to go to court to block the Sh2.5 Billion ballot paper tender awarded to Dubai firm Al Ghurair.

Raila made the remarks in response to the IEBC's announcement that the production of ballot papers by Al-Ghurair Printing firm would start by the end of this week.

IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba, in an interview with NTV on Tuesday night, stated that they were already running late in the production of the 120 million ballot papers for the August 8 elections.

The electoral body had invited Presidential candidates and their representatives to accompany the Commission staff in witnessing the printing of the ballot papers in Dubai but Raila and a host of other candidates rejected the offer.

On Tuesday the Opposition leader accused the Jubilee administration of dragging the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) into politics.

Addressing a press conference at his Capitol Hill Office, Odinga disclosed that selected officers were being trained for recruitment as polling and presiding officers to help rig the August General Election.

"We are challenging the national government and the security bodies to explain to us, Kenyans, why they are training civilians in an exercise that is currently going on in Embakasi Barracks," he stated.

According to Odinga, a secret meeting was held involving officers from Armed Forces, Director General of National Intelligence Service (NIS), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) and the Commandant of the National Defense College to plan how Jubilee would hold on to power.
