Meru Governor Peter Munya PNU Party Leaders Barred From Attending President Uhuru Kenyatta's Meru Rally

Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi has warned Governor Peter Munya not to attend President Uhuru Kenyatta's rally scheduled to take place on Friday.

The Party of National Unity (PNU) leader along with his officials have been cautioned against attending the President's meeting following an ongoing rivalry between the two leaders.

The tussle between Kiraitu and Munya, who are both vying for the gubernatorial seat, has led youth within the county to declare that they would take over campaigns for the President if the two do not agree.

The youth leaders went ahead to ask President Kenyatta to visit the county in person despite the dispute.

"We want Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto to come in person to ask for votes because supporters of the two politicians support them," Mount Kenya Caucus Youth Group Chairman Linford Mutembei encouraged.

The Governor and Senator have fought each other over a myriad of issues including defaced campaign posters and presidential political ambitions for 2022.

A dramatic scene was witnessed when the campaign trails of the two leaders crossed each other and Kiraitu's supporters defected to join the Munya camp chanting: "Kiraitu is crying after seeing Munya".
