Jubilee and KANU Supporters Clash in Baringo, Senator Gideon Moi Posters Destroyed

Anti-riot police officer were on Saturday forced to intervene after KANU supporters allegedly stormed a Jubilee rally in Baringo County shouting party slogans.

According to witnesses, the rally led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago turned violent after Jubilee and KANU supporters clashed at Kabarnet High School.

The KANU supporters allegedly stormed the event shouting 'Kanu juu' and 'Gideon Moi tosha' as they wagged the party’s one finger salute.

In retaliation, the Jubilee supporters allegedly shredded Senator Moi's posters.

Speaking after the chaos were quelled, Governor Mandago reiterated that Jubilee was a peaceful party.

"We cannot accept to attend one meeting with a group of hooligans," said Mandago.

Mandago pronounced that KANU was dead and asked the supporters at the rally to back Jubilee candidates

He urged Senator Moi to shelve his 2022 presidential ambitions and support his arch nemesis, Deputy President William Ruto.

"If Gideon Moi wants to work with the government, he has to concede defeat and cross over to Jubilee so he can be accommodated and slotted in a certain seat, lest he remains in the cold," added Mandago

The Governor noted that the Nandi and Kipsigis communities had supported former President Daniel Moi for more than 30 years and it was time for the Tugens to back Ruto.

"This can only be proven if Baringo people vote away Gideon and usher fresh blood Chelugui to the Senate," reiterated the Governor.
