DP William Ruto Reveals Why Jubilee Failed to Deliver 5 Stadia in their First Term

Deputy President William Ruto on Monday explained that their administration had not delivered the 5 promised stadia because they decided to construct 9 and not 5.

Speaking during the launch of the Jubilee manifesto, the DP noted that the construction of the 9 stadia took more time and as such their administration could not deliver anything by the end of the first term.

"Instead of 5 we actually went for 9 just to make it better," DP Ruto stated.

The DP acknowledged that the project had faced some challenges citing confrontation between the National and County Governments on land related issues in Mombasa and Kisumu Counties.

"We have had issues in Mombasa because the county government has issues on the ownership of the land... In Kisumu, the government has not relocated the dumpsite next to the stadium as required by the law," Ruto highlighted.

He, however, assured Kenyans that in the next six months most of the stadia would be complete and ready for use.

"As we talk today in 6 months time the stadia in Wote, Chuka, Moyale, Kamariny-West Pokot, Nyeri, Eldoret, and Kiambu would be complete," he stated.

The DP made the remarks while responding to questions on why they had not delivered the 5 stadia as promised.

In 2013, President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto had promised to construct 5 new stadia as part of the Jubilee administration development record.
