27 Youth Arrested With Crude Weapons Before Rally to be Attended by Nyando MP Fred Outa, Hassan Joho

27 youth have been arrested on their way to an event in Kisumu County where Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is expected.

The youth were going to Rabuor where Nyando MP Fred Outa is launching campaigns for his Kisumu senatorial bid.

According to Nyando OCPD Mohamed Amin, members of the public informed police officers that they had seen youth in a pick up with crude weapons.

Amin stated that the group was found with three pangas, three knives and two sticks of bhang adding that some of the youth were drunk.

"We intercepted before they could reach the venue," the OCPD highlighted.

Mr Amin noted that the youth were from Muhoroni adding that it was unfortunate that they were letting politicians misuse them.

The 27 were taken to Ahero Police Station and will be arraigned in court later.

Amin assured that the police were on high alert and would deal with anyone who disrupts the meeting.

Governor Joho will be accompanied by members of the Nyanza region Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) presidential campaign team.

The Mombasa Governor was recently picked to lead NASA presidential campaigns in the Nyanza region, a move that was criticised by a section of Opposition leaders.
