Deputy President (DP) William Ruto was the subject of discussion as the National Super Alliance (NASA) took its campaigns to Narok County yesterday.
Leading the attack was the NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga who claimed that the DP was behind a scam at Maasai Mara game reserve from where he (Ruto) was making Sh3 Billion illegally.
Odinga claimed that together with Narok Governor Samuel Tunai, the DP had registered a company and taken over a section of operations at the game reserve.
He further blamed Ruto and Tunai for sacking many young people as their company allegedly took over operations at the facility.
“Hii kampuni ya Ruto na Tunai tutatoa nje. Wameunda kampuni ambayo inachukua mabilioni ya pesa kutoka Maasai Mara na wamefuta vijana wengi kazi (We (NASA) will throw out this company belonging to Ruto and Tunai. They have made a company that collects billions from Maasai Mara and have sacked many young people,)" Odinga claimed.
The DP found himself on the receiving end as speaker after speaker attacked his credibility, putting him to task over his alleged involvement in land and corruption scandals in which he has previously been mentioned.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka declared the DP the mastermind of cartels.
Musyoka said "William Ruto is the father of cartels who is using the NGO boss Fazul to broker deals.”
In a statement sent to newsrooms, Narok Finance Chief Executive Morgan Siloma distanced the two from the allegations made by NASA politicians.
He confirmed that all operations at the tourist facility were above board and audit had raised no queries over the deal that was also discussed in the Senate.
