UK Specialist Reveals New Details About The Investigation Into Late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo

Five days after the government released a report on what caused the death of the Late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo, specialists from the United Kingdom have released new details contradicting the report.

A thread of emails reveals that 45 samples sent to the UK for examination were spoilt even though they had been delivered in good condition.

UK pathologist, Dr. Calder had written to Current Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr seeking for more samples which was not possible because the body of the late senator had already decomposed.

A pathologist with the knowledge of the case told a local newspaper that the late senator may have come into contact with a lethal poison causing his death.

“The only way to be sure is through a toxicology exam that will show if he indeed ingested poison as he was bleeding everywhere,” he postulated.

An earlier government report presented by Dr S W Mwangi at the Machakos Law Courts explained that the late senator suffered massive bleeding that could have been due to excessive ingestion of some substances that include caffeine.

“Mr Kilonzo died of massive hemorrhage into the chest and cranial cavity due to significantly elevated blood pressure due to several factors including but not limited to excessive ingestion of pseudoephedrine (nasal/sinus decongestant) in combination with caffeine,” the report read in part.

The family of the late Senator, however, expressed their disappointment with the manner in which the government handled the investigations.

One of the family members stated that the government owed them an explanation as well as Kenyans who were eager to know what toxin caused the hemorrhage stating that time was much spent and no conclusive report had been issued.

"The inquest has gone cold. Its timing raises serious questions. It will be closed with no tangible results,” he stated.

The inquest will resume on September 26, 2017.
