TIFA Poll Shows Evans Kidero Preferred Governor of Nairobi, Senator Mike Sonko Second Place

Incumbent Governor Evans Kidero is the most preferred gubernatorial candidate for Nairobi County, a new poll by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) has revealed.

Kidero is in the lead with a one per cent margin as Senator Mike Sonko follows closely behind.

The poll findings that were released on Thursday indicate that 44 percent of the respondents would re-elect Governor Kidero if the elections were held today while 43 percent would vote for Sonko.

The poll also portrayed a likelihood of the contest being a two horse race as the third most preferred candidate was former Gatanga Parliamentarian Peter Kenneth who was favoured by a mere four percent of the respondents.

Outspoken lawyer and independent candidate for the post, Miguna Miguna, was preferred by a meagre one percent.

Eight percent of the respondents were still undecided on who they would vote for.

In the Senatorial contest, Jubilee candidate Johnson Sakaja has a commanding lead with 38 percent of the respondents conveying that they would elect him if the elections were held today.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Edwin Sifuna came in second with 28 percent.

Little-known Wiper Party candidate and owner of the Taj Mall, Ramesh Gorosai came in third place with one per cent of the respondents supporting his bid.

29 percent of the respondents, however, indicated that they were still undecided over their preferred senatorial candidate in Nairobi.

In the Woman Rep race, Esther Passaris of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) emerged victorious with 56%.

Incumbent Rachael Shebesh came in second with 25% whereas Maina Kageni, Rahab Ndambuki and Nadya Khan emerged third fourth and five respectively with 1 % each.

TIFA found that 15% of the voters were still undecided who to vote for in the Woman Rep race.
