Julie Gichuru Bashed After Posting Tweet Preaching Peace

Former Citizen TV news anchor Julie Gichuru was on Thursday attacked by Kenyans on social media following a post she made on Twitter.

In a post that seemingly preached peace ahead of the elections, Julie tweeted: "I shout peace from the mountains I preach peace in the caves Through peace we shall find equity & justice, I sing peace, blessed peace."

I shout peace from the mountains
I preach peace in the caves
Through peace we shall find equity & justice,
I sing peace, blessed peace

Surprisingly, her seemingly flawless tweet angered a section of Kenyans who accused her of fear with most stating that what Kenya needed was credible elections and not peace.

If you are a true patriot and as passionate about peace as you claim, advocate for what will bring it. I.e a CREDIBLE election!

I'd rather you go to those mountains and caves and instead of preaching peace ( to the already peaceful), preach Good Governance.

— Mwinyi Gakuria (@gakuria) July 5, 2017

Its so annoying, she is just being another catalyst. From her position she cud easily lobby for good systems and governance

Why insist on peace when Kibera ODM followers have been incited, saying it's either Raila win or war? What is the @NPSOfficial_KE doing?

— dantorish (@dantorish1) July 5, 2017

We dont see you calling for the arrest and prosecution of the corrupt wth th same zeal you continously call for peace. We are not at war

— Atieno Okeyo (@Atis_Okeyo) July 6, 2017

That jigger in ua mind must be a really fat one, how can peace be archived without justice, transparency and fairness?..

— mugambi mutwiri (@KiloYaKangeta) July 6, 2017

You cannot be the one helping @UKenyatta to steal election and you purport to preach peace

— titusobanda (@titusobanda) July 6, 2017

After you done shouting from the moutains, come sit down with us...we don't shout much, but we talk about credible elections all day.

— Kevin Kemboi (@IamKev_254) July 6, 2017

Rewrite your sentence before you open your mouth to Kenyans. Preach equity and justice first, if you want to be relevant.

On Tuesday, Julie also angered a section of online users after she shared a video that she captioned: "Don't let pseudo intellectuals lie that one can seek justice via violence. Conflict is the mother of injustice & she breeds a multitude".

The video drew a myriad of negative reactions from online users with some speculating that the "pseudo-intellectuals" title was referring to a certain side of the political divide.

A few weeks ago, Julie was also on the receiving end of Kenyans' wrath after she posted a photo of herself together with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Caroline Mutoko during a fundraiser for Kenyatta's reelection.

The photo ruffled feathers with many accusing her of being politically biased considering she is a media personality.
