The Government on Sunday made three major announcements after the death of the late Retired Major General Joseph Nkaissery.
Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua in a statement to newsrooms noted that the family of the Late Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) had appointed Mr Saitoti Ole Maika as the family spokesperson.
Mr Kinyua also announced that a committee had been formed by the government to work alongside the funeral committee and would be chaired by Health CS Cleopha Mailu.
The statement read in part that "the terms of reference of the committee will be to provide all possible assistance to the family of our departed colleague and to ensure that the Late CS receives an honourable and dignified send-off befitting his status as a gallant and true patriot."
The Head of Public Service further noted that from tomorrow, there will be regular public information updates done jointly with the specially appointed family and government spokespersons.
The Late Nkaissery died on Saturday morning at Karen Hospital in Nairobi just a few hours after attending the Saba Saba prayers at Uhuru Park.
Detectives and pathologists are conducting investigations to determine the cause of death.
The Late CS's body was taken to Lee Funeral Home.
