45 NASA MCAs From Kisii Defect to Jubilee Party

Nairobi Senatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja on Monday received 45 politicians affiliated to the National Super Alliance (NASA) in Kisii County.

The leaders declared their support for President Uhuru Kenyatta just a month to the August polls in what is set to be a major blow to NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Leaders from both the ruling party, Jubilee and the Opposition have in recent weeks stepped up their campaigns in a bid to secure votes as the election date nears.

Last week, Odinga received 13 sitting Members of the Kiambu County Assembly who lost in the Jubilee nominations into his party.

MCA Mwangi wa Mwangi said his defection to Odinga's camp reflected his democratic right to be in any political party.

"Since I lost the nominations I opted to weigh options for my political career," Mwangi highlighted.

Meanwhile, President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto visited Turkana County on Monday and urged voters to give them a second chance.

The two highlighted the progress Turkana had made in the last four years including the delivery of electricity, water, improved health services and roads.
