ICT CS Joe Mucheru Asks Google to Pull Down Mutahi Ngunyi's Video on Joseph Nkaissery's Death

The Government of Kenya through ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has asked Google to pull down a video that was uploaded on YouTube by controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi as it was creating unnecessary tension.

In the video, Ngunyi talks about the death of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery saying he was assassinated and links his death to a series of suspicious occurrences.

"...did Nkaissery really die or did they force him to die?

"In my view, Nkaissery was assassinated. Some say he was probably sick and I say that the easiest target for assassination is a sick man...he was not sick, and if he was sick, the timing of his death is suspect.

"He could have pushed himself until after the election because he is a general and the energy we saw him with during the Friday meeting could have sustained him until after the election," he said.

CS Mucheru stated that he had received several complaints from concerned citizens who felt the video was inappropriate.

"We have seen a lot of activity online during the campaign season and I can tell you that almost every day, there is someone calling me to take down some piece of inciting content," explains CS Mucheru.

A post-mortem on the late CS indicated that he had died of heart attack.

With the August Elections just around the corner, cases of hate speech have also been on the rise and the government is putting in place stringent measures to ensure no false alarm is being created through social media platforms.

The video had over 194,000 views at the time of this publication.
