Jubilee's President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho of NASA to Hold Parallel Rallies

The political rivalry between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho will today play out with the two leaders holding parallel events in Mombasa.

The Jubilee brigade, lead by the president will today pitch their tent at Jomvu Kuu primary school to drum up support for President Kenyatta and other Jubilee politicians from Mombasa.

Joho, on the other hand, will be leading opposition campaigns in Mvita where he is expected to rally the voters behind the opposition candidates.

Orange Democratic Movement nominees from the county disclosed that today's event at Mvita will mark the start of an elaborate campaign that will be rolled out to all six constituencies.

Apart from mobilizing voters to support the opposition Raila Odinga, the leaders will also be preaching a message of peaceful elections as they seek to bar Jubilee party from gaining any support in the county.

The event comes just two days after an opinion poll by Infotrack revealed that Joho had a commanding lead of 63 percent in the gubernatorial race.

Joho's profile as the political kingpin in the Coast region has been raised in the recent past following numerous altercations with the president and other state agencies.

Mombasa is perceived to be an opposition stronghold and voted overwhelmingly for the opposition in 2013 elections. However, Jubilee party has been keen on getting a chunk of votes with numerous rallies in the region.
