Johnson Sakaja Reveals Jubilee Would Prefer Journalist John Sibi Okumu to Host Presidential Debates

Nairobi Senatorial Candidate Johnson Sakaja has revealed the renowned media personality the Jubilee Party would prefer to host the Presidential debates.

During a Monday morning panel discussion, Sakaja disclosed that one of the reasons why President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto skipped the debates was because "biased journalists" had been selected to moderate the live TV show.

“In all fairness, Jubilee candidates or any other candidate for that matter, will not be comfortable attending debates and fielding questions from journalists who are commenting negatively on their twitter pages. We want the likes of John Sibi Okumu to come and moderate our debates,” he stated.

John Sibi Okumu is a well-known media personality with a wealth of experience in the industry.

While he was working for KTN, John Sibi hosted a popular TV program called The Summit where he conducted high profile interviews with prominent personalities such as former Kenyan Presidents Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, the first African female elected President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Richard Leakey and Wangari Maathai.

In 2009, he hosted the Zain Africa Challenge which was a regional inter-university show that aired simultaneously in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia.

He is also a talented actor having featured in several movies including Born Free, We are the children, Metamo and most notably in The Constant Gardener.

At some point, he even hosted his own show on KISS TV called JSO at 7 before it was shut down.

After that, he branded himself as a conference moderator and a media consultant and he currently hosts major conferences.
