A vehicle branded with Governor Hassan Joho’s image has been nabbed by Anti-narcotics police unit in Mombasa County.
The car was seized on Monday following a swoop by police where seven suspected drug traffickers were arrested with a half kilo of heroin and Sh4.5 Million.
Coast Regional Police boss Larry Kieng told reporters that they also impounded Sh1 Million during the crackdown in Mombasa and Malindi.
“We have also seized seven Toyota vehicles. We are yet to establish the value of the drug but it will be subjected to a test at our laboratory,” he stated.
Among those arrested is Ndechumia Bilali Kimali who is out on a Sh10 Million bond after he was charged with two counts of trafficking 7.6kg of heroin in 2015.
Assuring that the security forces were on high alert, the coast police boss insisted that they would zero in on more drug traffickers.
“We will continue dealing with these people and ensure we flush them away. We are not going to relent in this war,” Kieng explained.
Earlier this week, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had appealed to a Shanzu law court for more time to detain and investigate suspects before filing charges against them.
