Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho's Campaign Car Attacked

A video has surfaced online of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho's campaign car being attacked.

In the clip, the vehicle appears to be in traffic, sandwiched between a convoy believed to be of other aspiring governors.

Some of the members of the convoy are seen vandalising the vehicle while one of Joho supporters is attacked by two men who descend on him with blows and kicks.

The undated video has been doing rounds on social media and members of the public are heard telling the two men to stop attacking the governor's supporter.

As the car drives away, it is pelted with stones amid chants from supporters who are believed to be from his rival's camp.

The race for Mombasa governorship has been a heated affair with the incumbent seeking re-election against Senator Omar, Jubilee's Suleiman Shahbal and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti.

Earlier this month, Mr Omar's campaign truck was attacked by unknown people and the windows smashed

During the incident, he claimed that Governor Joho’s family was behind the attack which he termed as “extreme hooliganism by people who had been acclimatised to intimidate people in this county".

Mombasa County Director of Communication Richard Chacha dismissed Omar’s claims saying they were malicious.

He accused the Senator of dragging the Governor’s name and that of his relatives into his woes.
