Mwai Kibaki’s Former Personal Assistant Geoffrey King’ang’i Wins Mbeere South Parliamentary Seat

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared former President Mwai Kibaki's ex-personal assistant the winner of a parliamentary seat in the just concluded elections.

Geoffrey King’ang’i who was contesting on a Jubilee party ticket was on Friday announced the winner of Mbeere South constituency Parliamentary seat.

King'ang'i emerged the winner edging out independent candidate and incumbent MP Mutava Musyimi in the hotly contested race.

The former aide garnered 18,225 votes against his closest competitor who got 16,897 votes followed by Bernard Muriuki of Democratic Party (DP) who got 6,864 votes.

He received his certificate at Nyangwa Boys High School where he promised to fight poverty in the constituency.
