Kajiado West MP Moses ole Sakuda Loses to Keekonyokie MCA George Sunkuyia

Outgoing Kajiado West Member of Parliament (MP) Moses ole Sakuda has conceded defeat after losing to a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for the second time.

Sakuda lost to Keekonyokie MCA George Sunkuyia in the parliamentary race having lost to the same person in the Jubilee Party nominations held in April.

After losing in the primaries, the seasoned politician who was elected in 2013 on a Jubilee ticket opted to defend his seat as an independent candidate but eventually lost in the concluded polls.

Speaking after Sunkuyia was declared the winner, the incumbent welcomed the decision by his constituents vowing to respect the will of the people.

“I now realise that Kajiado West will have a new MP in the name of George Sunkuyia. The people have decided at the ballot box and I respect their wish,” he stated.

Sakuda embraced his opponent's win wishing the incoming legislator all the best in his first term in office.

“I have now passed on the leadership baton to my former pupil as I prepare for more challenging responsibilities. Success is not success without a successor,” he maintained.

He further urged National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to concede defeat since provisional results indicate he is trailing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“He is unnecessarily heightening tension in our country. If he can't concede defeat, then let him follow the Constitution he claims to champion and go challenge the results in court,” affirmed the outgoing MP.
