President Uhuru Kenyatta to Attend Inaugurations of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to attend the inaugurations of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Joyce Laboso of Bomet County.

Both Sonko and Laboso are first-term governors and were Jubilee Party candidates in the recently concluded General Election.

Sonko trounced incumbent governor Evans Kidero in a tightly contested race while Laboso emerged victorious in Bomet after beating Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) candidate and incumbent Isaac Ruto.

According to State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu, President Kenyatta will be there to "support them as they begin their demanding journey of service."

Sonko is set to be inaugurated at Uhuru Park today and the event is likely to draw a huge turn out which may result in disruption of transport within the CBD.

Last week, Sonko rejected the Sh25 Million meant for the inauguration.

He instead directed that the monies be used to offset salary arrears owed to county employees.

Sonko has also started cleaning up the city and his crew -The Sonko Rescue Team - has for the past few days been removing campaign posters from city streets.

He will be sworn in together with his Deputy, Polycarp Igathe who has a wealth of experience in the corporate world.
