Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has advised National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to stop the presidential election petition and negotiate with President Uhuru Kenyatta for a coalition (nusu-mkate) government.
Speaking on Monday during his swearing-in for a second term as Busia Governor, Ojaamong stated that the case NASA filed at the Supreme Court was a threat to the unity of the country.
"I call upon Uhuru and Raila to sit down and come with a united grand government instead of heading to the court because it will tear our nation further," he stated.
Ojaamong, who defended his seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, stated that he would form an inclusive government in his second term that would include politicians who lost in the elections.
"I am forming an all-inclusive government with everyone. I will give them one-year renewable contracts to ensure they are on their toes and serve the people of Busia diligently and without favour," he stated.
The ODM Governor, who was sworn in together with his Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi, declared that he would undertake an overhaul of his administration to improve service delivery in the county.
A number of newly-elected MPs attended the swearing-in ceremony including Oku Kaunya (Teso North), Geoffrey Omuse (Teso South), Geoffrey Odanga (Matayos), Joseph Oyula (Butula), Oundo Mudenyo (Funyula), John Bunyasi (Nambale) and Raphael Wanjala (Budalangi).
