Raila Odinga Reveals Why He Went to Mombasa for Governor Hassan Joho's Swearing-in Ceremony

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has revealed why he only attended the swearing-in ceremony of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho among all other Governors.

Speaking during the ceremony, Odinga stated that he decided to head to Mombasa since Joho was one of the most courageous and able leaders in the Opposition.

He stated that he had nurtured Joho since he first vied for an electoral position in the Kisauni by-election following the death of former MP, the late Karissa Maitha.

He divulged that though the Governor lost, they remained together and campaigned for the rejection of the draft constitution during the 2005 referendum.

Odinga added that Joho continued to remain a true member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and won the Kisauni seat in the 2007 General Election after which he appointed him Assistant Minister for Transport.

According to the NASA principal, Governor Joho continued to seek his advice and even consulted him before vying for the governorship in 2013.

Odinga noted that he also decided to attend the event following the massive support he got from the area garnering over 80 percent of the votes in the presidential race.

The former Prime Minister announced that he also opted to go to the Coastal city to launch a national campaign for truth & electoral justice in Kenya.

He insisted that the concluded General Election was flawed calling on Kenyans to resist what he called "computer-generated results”.

The NASA leader further urged his supporters to desist from the culture of accepting and moving on and ensure that their votes counted.
