Ministry of Interior Spokesperson Mwenda Njoka Apologises to Esther Passaris

Mwenda Njoka, the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, has issued an apology to Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris for referring to her as Senator-elect.

Njoka made the error when Ms Passaris had paid a courtesy call to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.

He would later issue an apology coupled with a light message to the Nairobi Senator-elect Johnson Sakaja.

Passaris was presenting a petition to hold police accountable for their actions and thanked the CS for an informative engagement.

The petition demanded an immediate apology to mothers and a retraction of Matiang'i's statement that all people who were shot during the post election chaos were hooligans.

It also demanded transparent investigations into complaints of police manhandling residents of Mathare and Kibera.

Passaris was elected Nairobi Woman Rep after seeing off stiff competition from incumbent Rachel Shebesh.

Sakaja, on the other hand, vied on a Jubilee Party ticket and emerged victorious after beating ODM candidate Edwin Sifuna.
