Police Reveal Kayole Gaza Gang Has Only 6 Surviving Members After Michael "Mwanii" Mwaniki Was Killed

According to Nairobi police investigators, only six members of the Gaza criminal gang from Kayole have survived and are on the run.

The six are said to have escaped arrest on Sunday during a police raid that led to the death of the gang's suspected leader, Michael "Mwanii" Mwaniki.

"We have profiled them…we know their names and a little bit of their history," an investigating detective revealed.

Kayole OCPD Joseph Gichangi has also revealed details of a special police task force that was able to infiltrate the gang and discover that it has no firm structures.

"They also managed to discover that they were using young ladies to assist them carry weapons which were later used against members of the public. It was a tactic that was being used and we have since addressed it squarely," Gichangi told Capital FM News.

One of the detectives (who chose to remain unnamed due to the nature of his work) has revealed chilling details of how the police were able to nab the Gaza kingpin.

"It was not an easy task to get him. He has foot soldiers who would always alert him every time we would plan a raid," the detective began.

The police had an informer who intimated to them details of a meeting Mwaniki had planned with his ammunitions dealer that fateful Sunday.

The gangster had been hiding out in Witiethie, Kiambu County, where he invited the arms dealer for the trade off.

Unknown to Mwaniki, the undercover detectives accompanied his dealer right into his lair.

"As soon as our informer alerted us about his hideout and that they were to meet that afternoon, we prepared a team and we had hoped that he will be arrested together with the rest of the criminals. But we went there cautiously since they were armed.

"A fierce shootout ensued and in the process, both were killed…the Gaza leader was dead," the detective narrated.
