Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze Takes Oath of Office With an Oxygen Tank

Kitui West Member of Parliament Francis Nyenze caused a stir in Parliament after he showed up to take the oath of office with an oxygen tank.

The former National Assembly Minority leader was clearly determined to be sworn in, not even his current medical situation could keep him from the crucial occasion.

The Wiper Party legislator was experiencing laboured breathing as he read out the oath but he managed to complete his task and even walked away from the podium to allow for the next legislator to be sworn in.

Details on Nyenze's health condition are still scanty.

There have been a number of legislators who made it through the electioneering period at the face of health challenges.

Baringo South Constituency residents elected Ms Grace Kipchoim as their Member of Parliament (MP) despite the cancer illness that saw her admitted to the hospital throughout the campaign period.

While her competitors were busy campaigning for elections, she was hospitalized at Nairobi Hospital until she was declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC).

After the elections, Othaya Member of Parliament-elect Gichuki Mugambi was driven to collect his winning certificate from the area tallying centre in an ambulance.

Mugambi, who was involved in a road crash, was received by his supporters amid songs of celebration at Munaini Primary School in Othaya town following his victory.
