NASA Leader Raila Odinga Announces That Life Must Go on After Presidential Petition

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga has announced what will happen after the Supreme Court has delivered it's ruling on the Presidential petition challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.

In a message read by Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, during the burial of former Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko's wife, Christabel Ouko, Mr Odinga noted that "the world will not come to an end today" after the Court delivers it verdict on presidential election results.

"Whatever happens today, we are all winners. In Luo, we say a soldier lives to fight another battle," he stated.

The Governor further announced that the National Super Alliance (NASA) was not expecting the police to attack residents because of the political ideology.

The Prof announced that the NASA leadership had held several meeting with top security chiefs to ensure that all residents and their property are protected.

"We have discussed the concept of security to ensure lives and property are protected. Police should know that when people celebrate or mourn they should be protected and not killed.

"We have printed T-shirts to show that Luo lives matter. And as such, no Luo should be killed, subdued or tortured because of their political stand," he stated.

Governor Nyong'o also called on the residents to go to various churches and pray as they await the Supreme Court verdict.

"Go to church and pray. If you are a Muslim, go to the mosque and if you are a Hindu, go to the temple and pray. But tomorrow (September 1), the world is not coming to an end," he noted.

President Kenyatta was represented in the funeral by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed who conveyed a condolence message from the Head of State.

President Kenyatta eulogised the late Christabel as a woman of great intellect, compassion, and resilience.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will today issue a verdict as to whether President Kenyatta was validly elected and declared the winner.

If the court rules in favour of Mr Odinga, it will become the first African court ever to nullify a presidential election.
