Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o Invites Residents for Meeting Before NASA Petition Verdict

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has invited residents of the Nyanza region county to a meeting that will be held on Friday as the country awaits the final verdict from the Supreme Court.

Governor Nyong'o has declared that residents will hold a prayer meeting at the ACK St Stephens Cathedral Church, as they await the ruling.

Prof. Nyong'o also conveyed a message from the National Super Aliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga, who could not make it to the funeral.

"Go to church and pray. If you are a Muslim, go to the mosque and if you are a Hindu, go to the temple and pray. But tomorrow (September 1), the world is not coming to an end," Nyong'o reported.

The Governor also announced that members of the public will receive T-shirts printed "Luo Lives Matter" in honour slain leaders whose murders have remained unsolved.

"Whatever happens today, we are all winners. In Luo, we say a soldier lives to fight another battle.

"We are expecting the police not to take away any life of a Luo just because of their political orientation," Prof. Nyong'o charged.

She has been celebrated as an "epitome of strength, the embodiment of resilience, who in the face of life’s challenges, remained amiable and gracious with her signature smile that inspired many. Her laugh was like a burst of sunshine on a gloomy day and was terribly infectious".

She was laid to rest at her Koru home in Muhoroni, in a service that was attended by top dignitaries among them Foreign Affairs Minister Amina Mohammed, Former Makueni Senator David Musila and Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
