President Uhuru Kenyatta to Appoint Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju to the Cabinet

President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised to give Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju a Cabinet position as soon as he is sworn in as President.

Flanked by his deputy William Ruto, the President gave an assurance that they would co-opt Mr Tuju to their cabinet after he led the party to a landslide parliamentary victory in the 2017 General Election.

Sources have intimated that Mr Tuju is poised to take up a key role in the Cabinet as he will be responsible for ensuring that the Jubilee manifesto is implemented, as promised, in the next five years.

Mr Tuju has also been mandated to chair all parliamentary group meetings for the party, setting him as the designated go-between for the Executive and Legislative arms of the government.

President Uhuru issued the edict on Wednesday after a day-long Jubilee Parliamentary Group Meeting held at State House.

Sources conveyed that the ruling party's parliamentarians were given a stern warning as they prepared to take up office.

"They were told in no uncertain terms that the President and Deputy President will brook no opposition from the party ranks in their goal to achieve their promises.

"Any MP who rebels will have the recall clause activated straight from the constituency," the source told Daily Nation.

President Kenyatta assured them that issues raised during the group meetings will be addressed, stating that he will keenly follow proceedings and events at Parliament.
