NASA Vows to File Criminal Case Against IEBC Officials

The National Super Alliance (NASA) now wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials led by Chairman Wafula Chebukati prosecuted in court for committing a criminal election offence.

In a press conference held outside the Supreme court immediately after nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's win, NASA leaders led by Raila Odinga noted that the commission cannot be entrusted to carry out another election.

While delivering the verdict, Chief Justice David Maraga noted that the IEBC failed, neglected or refused to conduct the election in keeping with electoral laws.

Odinga, therefore, noted that the officials committed a criminal offence and that they belong to jail, adding that the commission betrayed all Kenyans by carrying out shambolic elections.

The NASA leader announced that the alliance will call for the formation of a new commission after Chebukati and his team are charged in court.

He applauded the decision of the Supreme court, noting that it will set precedent to other election petitions in the country.

Siaya Senator James Orengo reiterated his statement stating that the commission is on trial and that infinity has to be punished.

Presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot also backed the decision by the NASA officials stating that Chebukati and his team must be charged in a proper court.

The supreme court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win and ordered for a fresh poll in 60 days.
