Former Meru Governor Peter Munya Defects to NASA

Former Meru Governor Peter Munya has defected from the Party of National Unity (PNU) and joined the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Speaking from the NASA leader Raila Odinga's Capitol Hill offices, Mr Munya conveyed that he was the unfortunate casualty of the compromised election whose presidential election results were nullified by the Supreme Court.

"When the election of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka was being stolen I was also canon fodder in that fight and therefore, I cannot join those who stole my election and be working for them.

"That is why I have decided today, and we have decided with the team and the people of Meru who supported me that we will be on this side of history and to continue fighting for change and transformation of this country," Munya stated.

The former Governor relayed that he will be challenging the Meru gubernatorial election results in court, after he lost to Governor Kiraitu Murungi in the August 8 General Election.

"When the Supreme Court gave it's historic ruling that the IEBC mismanaged the elections, I don't think the IEBC was mismanaging only the presidential elections.

"I am not the only canon fodder in this game, there are veryu many outside there. I want to confirm to you that I am petitioning the election and I have already gathered enough evidence and even NASA has helped me with some of the information that clearly demonstrated how the election was stolen," the former Governor explained.

Mr Munya further stated that he would be defecting along with his parent political party, PNU, which was Gazetted as being under the leadership of Former President Mwai Kibaki.
