Police Ordered to Arrest 2 Former Senior Chase Bank Managers

Police have been ordered to arrest two former senior managers of Chase Bank after they failed to appear in court to plead to the charges of conspiring to defraud the bank over Sh1.6 Billion.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku ordered police to apprehend Abdul Ahmed and Ghanrish Omar for failing to comply with earlier court summons in the fraud case.

At the same time, two other former managers, Amiran Claudia and Mohammed Khan made an application to oppose taking a plea in the same case.

Through their lawyer Cecil Miller, they claimed that the charges against them were defective.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, through Senior State Counsel James Warui, asked the court for more time to respond to the defence application.

Magistrate Mutuku, however, ordered the application to be heard on September 7 before making any further direction.

In June, Mr Khan was arrested and charged with conspiracy to defraud Chase Bank of Sh1.7 Billion.

Khan was accused of acquiring his wife, Shehla Khan, a vintage Ferrari Dino worth Sh45.5 Million and a limited edition Chevrolet Corvette for Sh12.7 Million, using Chase Bank funds without following due process.

Khan resigned in 2016 following public concerns over the financial status of the bank.

The four are jointly charged alongside three other former Senior Managers who include Ducan Kabui GichuiJames Mwenja, and Makaros Agumbi.
