Raila Odinga Gives 6 Reasons Why NASA Will Not Participate in October 17 Election

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has given 6 reasons why the opposition will not participate in the October 17th repeat presidential election.

Speaking to the media at Wilson Airport on Tuesday, Odinga stated his reasons for not participating in the elections are:

1. This is not a run-off. It is a repeat of the presidential election so it should be handled with the seriousness it deserves.

2. IEBC did not consult stakeholders before announcing the new election date.

3. Education CS Fred Matiang'i suggested the date because of national exams so it is Jubilee Party that has decided.

4. The court order required an open audit of the IEBC servers and this has not been done.

5. The technology system was not accessible to all stakeholders.

6. IEBC had been indicted and was found wanting. Some of its officers should be sacked first.

"We are not ready to participate without legal and constitutional guarantees," stated Odinga.

He further added that agreeing to participate in the elections would lead to the same irregularities.

"We know what IEBC did and the same will happen.

"There will be no elections on October 17 unless our grievances are addressed," he remarked.
