Lang'ata MP Nixon Korir Modelled for a Multinational Company

Lang'ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir has revealed that he used to be a male model before he joined politics.

The MP emerged victorious in the August 8 General Election with 40,085 votes, trouncing 16 others who contested for the seat.

Mr Korir admits that the contest for the elective post was a tough one considering the constituency had been an Opposition stronghold and he was vying on a Jubilee party ticket.

Prior to joining politics, the MP was working for the Government as a Secretary for Youth Affairs.

He is also the founding Chairman of the United Republican Party (URP) that was formerly led by Deputy President William Ruto.

Korir is a lawyer by profession, having graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2011.

It is during his time at the University that Mr Korir, by chance, landed into the modelling industry.

"I had just taken my then girlfriend, now my wife, to take some photos...because she was interested in modelling.

"The guy who was taking the photos said I could give it a try so I took some photos and after a week, he called and told me I had been selected to do an advert for Zain," the MP told SDE.

Recalling the tough times in campus, Korir said he accepted the job and quipped, "If I can smile and make some money, then why not?"

Mr Korir went on to do more adverts including one with Sony Sugar Company where he played a groom.

The Jubilee MP was hesitant to comment on the favour he found with the ladies saying that he would rather be judged for his brains than his looks.

He is happily married to his wife, Beryl, with whom he has two daughters - Maya and Sasha.
