Jubilee Party Issues New Statement After Chebukati's Memo Exposed How Election was Rigged

President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party has issued a new statement after IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati's memo demanding answers from CEO Ezra Chiloba on key mistakes in the elections surfaced.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, while speaking to KTN News, noted that IEBC was the most accused party in the petition and a such they should carry their own cross.

"IEBC was the most indicted, actually it was the only organisation that was indicted by the Supreme Court. The President and the Opposition did not bear any blame for any mess that may have happened.

"Therefore, IEBC has to take responsibility for some of those mistakes if not all of those mistakes since it was their responsibility to midwife the process," Tuju stated.

He expressed Jubilee's concerns with the infighting at the polls agency adding that it could jeopardize next month's election.

"The issue is of concern to us because there are 39 days before the next elections and they should not be as discordant as they are at the moment," he noted.

Regarding the party's meeting with the electoral commission, Tuju explained that they cancelled the engagement since they wanted the National Super Alliance (NASA) to be part of the same meeting.

"We made a firm proposal that any engagement with IEBC should be open and involve both stakeholders. It is important that we operate on a platform of honesty and transparency he explained.

Tuju made the remarks after a memo by Chebukati to Chiloba raising several tough questions regarding the concluded elections emerged.

In the internal memo, the chairman asked Chiloba to respond to twelve issues about the presidential election that was nullified by the Supreme Court.
