Busia residents on Friday held demonstrations against President Uhuru Kenyatta led by Nangina Ward MCA John Obwogo and Busia County Bodaboda SACCO Chairman Eric Makokha.
The residents walked for 10 kilometres carrying placards bearing messages against the President as well as two of their local leaders, who have pledged support for the Jubilee Party presidential candidate.
Former Funyula lawmaker Paul Otuoma and former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba were painted as the enemy for supporting Kenyatta's re-election in the upcoming presidential poll.
Mr Obwogo declared that the President would not get a single vote from the County that largely voted for NASA's Raila Odinga in the August 8 poll.
"The President is wooing leaders from Western, including my brother Otuoma, to his camp in a bid to win votes for him. We say such machinations will not yield a single additional vote from Busia County," the MCA declared.
"Anybody who cheats you that Busia is Jubilee came there to satisfy their stomachs. We are in NASA and we respect Raila who we shall give our votes on October 17," the SACCO Chairman added.
Coming just a day after the President toured the neighbouring Bungoma County for his campaigns, the protesters further told the Head of State to refrain from attacking their "son", Supreme Court Judge Smokin Wanjala.
"Uhuru should not arm-twist the Judiciary which is an independent body. Our son Smokin Wanjala should be respected. He is educated and his papers made him join the Supreme Court," the MCA warned.
