Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria Goes to Court Over The August Presidential Votes

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has declared that he now decided to move to court to seek orders for recounting of presidential votes cast on August 8.

On Saturday, the legislator proclaimed that he was not filing a presidential petition, rather he was entitled to information about what is in the ballot boxes.

"We will pray the court to direct that the recounting takes place publicly at Kasarani Stadium.

"Pursuant to Freedom of Information Act, to have Presidential ballot boxes from all the 40,886 polling stations opened publicly," he stated.

The legislator's lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui confirmed that Kuria had approached him to file the matter at the constitutional court for determination.

"Moses Kuria called me on Saturday but we have not sat down for him to give a proper instruction on what he wants," The Star reported the advocate as stating.

The MP has been the subject of controversy in the past week with most recently sending a contribution of Sh5 towards the NASA coalition fundraising bid.

On Wednesday, Moses Kuria issued a warning to the over 70,000 people who voted for Opposition Leader Raila Odinga in Kiambu.

In a Facebook post, Kuria noted that he had begun an operation to search for Kiambu registered voters who failed to vote and those who voted for the Opposition.

"Manhunt is on tonight for the 200,000 people who did not vote and the 70,000 that voted for that other demon," he stated.

The Gatundu South MP further noted that Kiambu residents were angry and ready to go back to the polls.
